DIRTWIRE (David Satori of Beats Antique + Evan Fraser of Hamsa Lila)
KMLN (Shawna + KMLN)
Dirtwire sits on the back porch of Americana’s future, conjuring up a gris-gris of sound using an amalgamation of traditional instrumentation, world-beat percussion, and digital soundscapes. Comprised of multi- instrumentalist David Satori (Beats Antique) and Evan Fraser (Hamsa Lila; Stallamara), each performance brings the audience to a mysterious crossroads at an imaginative and seductive moment in time. The result is a rebirth of Americana and beacon for a post- millennial return to downhome goodness.
KMLN (pronounced Kameleon) was created in 2011 in Berlin, and within six months had appeared in all of the city’s world famous clubs from “Watergate”, “Weekend” to underground gems “Sisyphos”, “Goldengate” and festivals such as “Fusion”. By the end of 2012, they had played in most of Europe. In 2013, KMLN relocated to Los Angeles and have performed at numerous festivals such as BPM, Lightning in a Bottle, Symbiosis Gathering, Burning Man, Shambhala Music Festival, and Bass Coast Project to name a few, in addition to shows in Indonesia, Thailand and Japan. Upcoming projects include a new EP and the first full length album. As an experienced musician, with years spent in bands and extensive touring,
Christopher Tooker adapts to any surrounding and delivers extremely entertaining live drumming, and genre-bending performances. With releases on Crosstown Rebels, Endless, Touch of Class and its own label KMLN Records, the music ranges from deeper house elements to full on techno, under the influence of rock, hip hop, downtempo, minimal abstract and world influenced modern electronica, with a very organic swing throughout all productions. The releases have been supported and played by the likes of Acid Pauli, M.A.N.D.Y, Damian Lazarus, Thugfucker and Luca Bacchetti.
In 2013, he teamed up with the talented DJ/producer/fashion designer Shawna Hofmann from SF/Canada, who has always been a pioneer in the West Coast festival scene for over 15 years. She has brought new styles to the dance floor, long before they became trends, delivering fresh sounds unheard to most with a multi-cultural twist. The union creates an even more astonishing trip through time and music. The colors of KMLN are always unpredictable, but one thing is for sure…. they play for the dancers!
